Again this year I plan to keep an eye on the flooding conditions here in Simonds and post developments here. I suspect we will have some possible flooding, although it's early to tell. EMO has not forcasted anything as of yet.

03.29.09 - Well the river is starting to look soaked with water, not sure of how thick the ice is here in particular but it is opening up near the edges and parts in the middle are wet.  River level right now is pretty much average,

THIS IS JUST AFTER THE ICE STOPPED FLOWING FOR A BIT, IT STARTED TO FLOOD THE AIRSTRIP HERE IN SIMONDS.

 THIS NEXT PICTURE TAKEN AT 6 PM AND AT 10:30 PM THAT LARGE CHUNCK OF ICE WAS STILL THERE..  THERE HAS BEEN ALOT MORE FLOW OF ICE GOING DOWN RIVER AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT HAS LET GO BELOW THE HARTLAND COVERED BRIDGE, SO HOPEFULLY IT WILL ALL KEEP FLOWING AND NOT JAM UP.

 THE HIGHEST POINT OBSERVED TODAY WAS STILL ABOUT 3' LOWER THAN THE HIGHEST LEVEL LAST YEAR.

 4.10.09  Well there was so much happened since the last update I dont know where to start!...  The ice in this area has all cleared out, Hartland suffered some flooding, about  8 houses were effected.  As the ice jam broke and moved down river the covered bridge was of concern, some ice chunks hit the side of it and broke boards. Water level dropped dramatically after the jam let loose and has not risen to anything to worry about since.  I was rather busy this past week and did not get much oppritunity to get pictures and such, although now there is not much to report on.  Still lots of ice and water to come down from the north, but now that all the ice has moved out in our area we should be fine.

The guard rail did not fend very well along this streach....  it is all twisted an ripped apart all along here...
